Pastor Melvin Arlos Sellers passed peacefully on Saturday, June 17 in Modesto.

Born in Salem, Oregon to parents Albert and Merle, descendants of Oregon Pioneers.
Melvin had lived in the Central Valley of CA for almost 30 years.

Melvin was a quartermaster third class in the US Navy. He served on the destroyer USS Stack, destroyer USS John R. Pierce, repair ship USS Jason, and the fleet tug USS Mataco.

Pastor Melvin Arlos Sellers passed peacefully on Saturday, June 17 in Modesto.

Born in Salem, Oregon to parents Albert and Merle, descendants of Oregon Pioneers.
Melvin had lived in the Central Valley of CA for almost 30 years.

Melvin was a quartermaster third class in the US Navy. He served on the destroyer USS Stack, destroyer USS John R. Pierce, repair ship USS Jason, and the fleet tug USS Mataco.

Melvin attended and graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA in 1972.
He served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winters, CA for 17 years and the First Southern Baptist Church of Hilmar, CA for 5 years before retiring in 1993.

Melvin is survived by his daughter Cathleen Sellers of Nevada, his sons Robert Sellers of Hilmar, and Bruce Sellers of Alabama, his youngest daughter Sharon (Sellers) Mello of Hilmar, his eleven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Vereta, his parents Albert & Merle, his brothers Harold and James, his sisters Elva Jean and Nancy, his first wife Bonnie Blackett and their daughter Christine Ann Wiley.

Pastor Sellers will be buried at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA on Friday, June 30 at 10 AM.
